Should I Seal My Pavers?

As an Orlando paver provider, we get asked all the time if people should spend their time sealing their pavers? Many people want a straightforward answer, but it really depends on your expectations from the sealer. If you are looking for added aesthetics and decreased maintenance, then sealing might be right for you. By adding a coat of sealant to your pavers, you can really add a new dimension to an already beautiful component to your outdoor landscape.

Sealing pavers can help keep your pavers clean because things that are spilled on the pavers are easier to clean up. When they are sealed, the sealer fills up the pores of the pavers which makes dirt harder to seep in. Of course, you still need to clean the pavers, but it keeps maintenance at a significantly lower rate. Also, by sealing your pavers, it will intensify the pattern and color of them. You can also help to keep concrete dust from being brought into the home as the sealer prevents that dust from accumulating.

Choosing the right sealer is important and as Orlando paver experts, we recommend using a water-based joint stabilizing sealer. This won’t build up on the surface like other pavers and they are much easier to apply.

If you decided to seal your pavers, we recommend that you do so every three to four years. If weeds start growing in between them, then you know it’s time to reseal them.
